Marni inspired nail art: Florals and stripes

Today’s manicure is inspired by Marni’s Spring 2012 Ready To Wear line. Marni did some pretty cool florals that I tried to replicated on my nails:

Also the main reason why I tried this design was cos I recently got my hands on a black nail pen (finally!) from one of the nail stores in town. It’s brandless and cost only S$7 (US$3), quite a steal. I’ve been dying to test it out for about a week but just couldn’t find the time. I also got some new nail colours (Snow and Papaya Punch from China Glaze) that this design was perfect for.

So the Fourth of July is right around the corner and I thought I’d put together some nail ideas that you can try, to get into the festivities.

The first is by Spellbound Nails, using OPI Alpine Snow, China Glaze First Mate and China Glaze Poinsettia. She painted the white base first, added red stripes and then used star stickers for nail art. She traced their outlines cos they didn’t conform to her nail shape exactly and then painted in the remainder with blue. I wouldn’t recommend this method cos apparently this design took her an entire night and morning to complete. You could try some nail art stencils instead that would give you the same design, in just a few seconds.

The second is one of my favourites by Nailside. Substituting the white for metallic tones like silver and gold really makes the mani pop and gives it a Wonder Woman kind of look. Tutorial here.

The third look was done with China Glaze Ruby Deer, Snow and First Mate. The small white stars were done using the Bundle Monster Plate BM14 and the tips done using French manicure tip guides. See the full tutorial here

I’ll add more Fourth of July nail art ideas as I find them, so check back and keep in the loop by following on Twitter (@NailArtLove_). Don’t forget to submit your mani if you try any of these!
